What we’re working on
Hit The Hay is our family passion project, and it’s never finished. We’re always adding sounds, smoothing rough edges and listening to your ideas. It’s made by a dad, his daughter and mum, a little at a time – so think of it as a cosy room we keep rearranging rather than a finished product.
Just added
- New sounds – soft white, deep brown, grey and green noise, a box fan, air purifier, tumble dryer, shower and air conditioning, light and heavy rain, a gentle storm, a brook, a pebble beach, a lake shore, a summer meadow, an aquarium, vinyl crackle, a night drive, typing, pencil writing and new lo-fi study tracks.
- Cafés – a Cosy café with soft music from the speakers, and a Christmas café with gentle carols in the Seasonal section.
- A grandfather clock – a slow, deep tick-tock, about once a second, with no chimes.
- A deep hoover – a full-size vacuum cleaner, low and steady, with no whine.
- A gentler Dad’s hum – we took the echo out, so it sounds close and calm.
- A new picture of us – a dad-and-daughter illustration on our About page.

- More family recordings – more shushes, hums and home sounds recorded by us.
- More Bonfire Night and Christmas sounds for the Seasonal section.
On the horizon
- Optional supporter sounds for fans who’d like to help keep Hit The Hay going. The core sounds will always stay free.
- More seasonal tabs through the year.
- Translations, so more families can use it in their own language.
- Bedtime wind-down mixes that drift gently from one sound to the next.

- No sign-up. No accounts, no email needed.
- No surprise subscriptions. Nothing renews behind your back.
- The useful sounds stay free – white noise, shushing, rain, ocean, fan, fireplace and lo-fi study music.
